Emerging ideas and ideologies profoundly influence societies and events.

Donald Trump

The Rise of Power of Donald Trump is a  significant current event. The 2016 election will go down in history as one of the most controversial and evil elections. Emerging ideas made that election what it was.

Wheel of Evolution

One of the key points on the wheels of evolution is about technological advancement. This fits in well with this Big Idea.

Printing Press Evolution

The printing press was an idea that has created the modern world. So many things would not exist without it which makes it a valuable and influential idea.

Disparities in power alter the balance of relationships between individuals and between societies.

Oliver Cromwell

Though people related with Cromwell, once he seized power his relationship with the people deteriorated quickly.

TRUMP

No one can relate to Donald Trump especially now that he is president.

Charles I

Charles I believed that his power made him superior to other people.

Collective identity is constructed and can change over time.

Columbus

During Christopher Columbus’ journey across the Atlantic and back, The Native American population’s identity changed a lot. At first, they were peaceful (ish) tribespeople, then they became Indians, finally they became slaves for the Europeans

Printing Press

The Printing Press allowed the population of Europe to have a collective identity.

Late Bloomers

Late Bloomers may consider themselves average until they find their skill that takes them to their full potential.

Curricular Competencies

Positives

During the unit on Christopher Columbus, I compared and contrasted different groups such as the Native Americans and the Europeans. When creating my Wheel of Social Evolution, I assessed how actions of individuals and groups affect events, changes, and decisions. During Donald Trump’s rise to power, we all had to find fair and ethical ways to remember and respond to the actions of other individuals.

Negatives

In the future, I need to assess the justification for competing historical accounts in all work that I do. I will also need to explain different perspectives on past and present people to make a more reasonable judgement of them. Finally, I need to recognize implicit and explicit judgements and biases in a variety of sources.
